Mercator Projection Map-
Gerardus Mercator invented the Mercator projection map. It was invented in 1569. It is a cylindrical projection map. Any straight line on a Mercator projection map is a line of constant true bearing that enables a navigator to plot a straight line course.

He was born in a poor family. He was born in Flanders. He grew up reading the bible. He was persecuted and held in jail for 7 months.
Tycho Brahe-
Tycho Brahe observed a solar eclipse when he was 13 years old. He became a scientist. He saw a supernova. He observed a comet once and noticed that it was farther away than the moon was.
The Backstaff-
John Davis invented the backstaff in 1590. Davis wrote a book called the sea men secrets. The backstaff was good because you wouldn’t have to put yourself on the brink of blindness determining the latitude of the sun. That’s it!
