WWDC 2009 | Highlights | new iPhone release: iPhone 3GS date and information
Highlights from WWDC 2009 Keynote: iPhone OS 3.0 available worldwide June 17th My weapon of choice this year for the Keynote stream was http://www.macrumorslive.com. They have a good stream text feed, and an even better streaming pictures feed. The pictures updated more often than the text, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they caught every [...]
Get a LoD of how horribly Palm Pre’s launch went…
And another Link of the Day for you… In the picture: iPhone launch on top, Palm Pre on bottom. For those of you that don’t know, the Palm Pre has had some great reviews that pit it’s features against the iPhone – the palm pre won in 8/12 categories in one review. Honestly though – [...]
iPhone SDK tutorial: disconnecting your application from Interface Builder
This is a quick tutorial on disconnecting your iPhone project from Interface Builder using Xcode. When you initially start a new iPhone project in Xcode, you get a project that loads from a NIB file. This NIB file describes a template for how visual elements are layed out on the screen. As a newbie to [...]

iPhone overheated: the peak of good UX
A picture of an iPhone warning screen appeared on The iPhone Blog yesterday. Apparently the iPhone gives a pleasant warning sign when it starts to overheat. Little warning signs like this, that inform the user of what’s happening, is what keeps Apple on top. Apple continues to prove how crucial machine-to-human communication is. This message [...]

iPhone 3.0 taking marginally better photos?
The 3.0 iPhone OS was released to developers a few months ago. We’re currently on the fourth beta of the iPhone OS,. Recently a Russian website released that the latest version of the beta software was taking higher quality pictures: As you might imagine, there was a lot of disbelief about the validity of these [...]
Best explanation of Apple’s 10-inch screen purchase
Admittedly, I haven’t really payed much attention to everybody’s theories about why Apple purchased so many 10 inch screens, but of those that I have payed attention to, this one caught my eye the most: Almost overnight Apple became a dominate player in the music business. The next night they completely changed the mobile phone [...]

Teaching Microsoft on a Mac
I was watching a session from MIX09 this morning titled “Deep Dive into Microsoft Silverlight Graphics.” The session was hosted by Seema Ramchandani and surprisingly (though, not too surprisingly) she was conducting the session from her 17″ MacBook Pro. She’s teaching the intricacies of a Microsoft product from the comfort of Mac. Wonderfully ironic! The [...]

Problems with the latest MacBook Nvidia update
I was going to ignore the issue until I saw this thread from AppleInsider. People that were reportedly having problems with the integrated 9400M video cards in their late-2008 unibody MacBooks are still having problems with the latest driver update. I had some problems a while back with my secondary display flickering, but I haven’t [...]
Quick Tip: free up space in Mac OS X by removing printer drivers
If you’re looking to free up a little bit of space you can safely delete all of the printer drivers that come installed on your system by deleting all the folders in /Library/Printers. Should free up about 3 GB of space. Safe and effective.

Macworld 2009 Expo show floor summary
So many freaking rabbits! There were bunny ears everywhere. At first I only saw women wearing them- “oh, somebody must be handing out bunny ears,” I thought. But then I started seeing men wearing them. I got suspicious. Instead of simply asking a bunny-wearing attendee where he/she got them, I decided to go high tech [...]
Get a LoD of this! Comic response to Steve Jobs weight loss
Today’s Link of the Day comes thanks to Macenstein and xkcd. Thanks! Macenstein posted a comic from xkcd. Funny.
Macrumorslive hacked during Macworld 09 Keynote!
So I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Macrumorslive.com got hacked while it was giving live updates of the Keynote. Too bad because they had a pretty cool Ajaxian feed update thing going on. I’m willing to bet that was step number one towards opening themselves up to hackers. The first hack that I noticed was [...]
Get a LoD of this: Macworld Keynote Presentation [video]
As today is the start of the Macworld Expo I find it rather appropriate that today’s Link of the Day would be the Apple hosted video of this morning’s Keynote presentation. Enjoy!
