Umm… that’s an interesting analogy…

How is the iPad going to fit in?

The iPad.  It’s a large iPod Touch.  It doesn’t run OS X.  It doesn’t multitask.  It doesn’t have a camera.  It’s not a typical computer. It’s a new way to think about a tablet experience. Lots of folks have been criticizing the iPad for what it isn’t, instead of praising it for what it is. [...]

CES announces HP Slate

HPs new Slate advertisement: There are a few more images over at Engadget. There seem to be a lot of tablet announcements coming out this year at CES 2010, hopefully this doesn’t steal any thunder from the announcement Apple is bound to make at the end of this month.

Project Natal gets the couch off your butt

Project Natal is a “controller free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft.  Natal is being created for the Xbox 360 game platform and is based on an add-on for the console that will enable you to interact via gestures, spoken commands, or other physical objects.  In case that doesn’t sound extremely exciting, take a look [...]

43 inch curved screen released today

Got $8000 dollars lying around?  Check out this curved screen.  It actually looks like it’s the same as this alienware curved monitor.  It’s got the same specs and, honestly, how many curved screens have you seen on the market. The biggest downfall to me is the resolution.  at 2880×900, it’s hardly a very high resolution.

WWDC 2009 | Highlights | new iPhone release: iPhone 3GS date and information

Highlights from WWDC 2009 Keynote: iPhone OS 3.0 available worldwide June 17th My weapon of choice this year for the Keynote stream was http://www.macrumorslive.com.  They have a good stream text feed, and an even better streaming pictures feed.  The pictures updated more often than the text, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they caught every [...]

Zune HD details released

The Zune HD was finally announced officially by Microsoft on Tuesday. Here are the quick details: The Zune HD is targeted at the iPod Touch – it’s not a phone.  (Darn) The screen is slightly smaller than the iPhone (480×272 vs 480×320), but so is the device. The screen is OLED. Multitouch is enabled, but [...]

Multitouch in the mud

tom gerdhardt’s mud computer at itp 2009′s spring show from Gizmodo on Vimeo. I’m not sure I can see how applicable this sort of interface would be for typical computing, unless it could be blown up to a large scale and used on a construction site or something.  What I’m more interested in are the [...]

Multitouch Interface on a budget

If you don’t have enough money to buy a Surface, why not make one yourself?  For 3% of the price.  Yes.  Instead of a $12,000 Surface you can build your own multitouch machine for $350.  Sounds like a great deal to me.  I think this would be a great solution for people that want to [...]

Best explanation of Apple’s 10-inch screen purchase

Admittedly, I haven’t really payed much attention to everybody’s theories about why Apple purchased so many 10 inch screens, but of those that I have payed attention to, this one caught my eye the most: Almost overnight Apple became a dominate player in the music business. The next night they completely changed the mobile phone [...]

Super Bowl Security commanded by Microsoft Surface

Looks like the Microsoft Surface unit is going to be a key player in helping the security team stay organized on Super Bowl Sunday.  Credit goes to Microsoft, E-SPONDER, and Infusion.  Microsoft supplies the Surface unit, E-SPONDER supplied the connections to the security data network, and Infusion Development provided the Falcon Eye technology (the software [...]

“First” multi-touch laptop from HP: TouchSmart tx2

Sort of cool: the new HP TouchSmart tx2.  HP has teamed up with N-trig, the same company that helped Dell get touch capability on their Latitude XT (which didn’t originally have multi-touch, only single-touch). HP is likely using N-trig’s latest version of their DuoSense dual-mode digitizer, which uses capacitive touch. However, this is NOT the [...]
