<p>Some guys over in San Francisco figured out how to hack electronic parking meters.  After a couple months of research they were able to accomplish the hack in 3 days, saying that if they can do it in three days, somebody else is definitely already doing it.  The parking meters in San Francisco are electronic and take smart cards for payment.  They researched the smart card protocol and tricked the meter into thinking the card had $999.99 on it.  Free parking for life!</p>
<p>One of the hackers said &#8220;our attack isn’t great technology at all and it shouldn’t even be possible in 2009.&#8221;</p>
