One of the issues that I mentioned in my post about Apple’s latest unibody MacBook firmware update was that my external monitor flickers and freaks out when it comes out of power save mode (when the screen goes off, computer still on). I was hoping that the latest update would fix it, but it seems this was just wishful thinking.
This issue happens on two different Cinema Displays, so I know it’s not just my display, but I haven’t tested it on any non-Cinema Displays. Sorry for the crappy video quality – it’s from my iPhone!

I have the same problem with my MBPro. I have it hooked to an old 23″ Cinema Display (the plexiglass one) using the mini-display>DVI adapter which in turn is running through the old DVI>Apple Display Connector adapter.
Like most problems, it does not occur 100% of the time.
Interesting post, would you mind expanding on the topic a bit more in the future?
