MacBook performance tip: leave your battery in when plugged into AC

While running memory benchmarks and comparisons inside a MacBook, PCMag.com came across a performance issue when a MacBook is plugged in to the wall with the battery removed.  This is documented on Apple’s support site and they are fully aware of it.  In fact, they do it on purpose.  Why?  They downgrade system performance to prevent the laptop from wanting more power than the AC input can provide.

Typically, under extreme operating conditions you could potentially draw more power than the AC input is providing and in this case the MacBook would draw the extra power from the battery.
