“First” multi-touch laptop from HP: TouchSmart tx2

Sort of cool: the new HP TouchSmart tx2.  HP has teamed up with N-trig, the same company that helped Dell get touch capability on their Latitude XT (which didn’t originally have multi-touch, only single-touch). HP is likely using N-trig’s latest version of their DuoSense dual-mode digitizer, which uses capacitive touch.

However, this is NOT the first multi-touch laptop.  Dell’s Latitude XT is also using the DuoSense dual-mode digitizer, and received a firmware update way back in July that enabled multi-touch on their previously only single-touch laptop.

You’ll notice that updates are starting to appear on the news articles today stating that this isn’t ACTUALLY the first multi-touch laptop – the Dell Latitude XT is.
