Adobe and ARM: not hand-in-hand with iPhone

Adobe and ARM just buddied up to accelerate the development of Adobe’s Flash and AIR for mobile devices.  They have been building a mobile version of flash for a long time, called Flash Lite, but they are now focusing on building full featured Flash for mobile.  Unfortunately for all of us with iPhones (which also runs on an ARM processor) we will not be reaping the benefits of this project in its current form.

This project is said to include Flash for Nokia’s Symbian OS, Windows Mobile, and Android, but for some reason still not for the iPhone.  I’m guessing that Flash will be a major selling point for the next iPhone, which I believe should be released in 2010 (wild guess here).

At the end of this article, Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch claims that they will have Flash running on one billion phones by the end of 2009.
